Position:   Park Ranger, Interpretation, Special Projects GS-11

My major job duties include the following:

  • Coordinates the development of alternative methods of delivering education and interpretation programs
  • Works with the University of Nevada Las Vegas and the Southern Nevada Partnership Land Management Agencies staff to identify training modules and present training in interpretation, education methods, and resource information to cooperators, volunteers, and staff
  • Assists in developing the park's Comprehensive Interpretive Plan, especially in developing those sections that must integrate with the interagency strategic plan and interpretive plans of other agencies.
  • Is a member of the federal education coordinating team and may be assigned liaison responsibilities with other teams.

My Job Responsibilities include the following:

  • Interpretation and Education program and project development and management.
  • Teamwork with the Interpretation and Planning staff, including Park Rangers (in interpretation, history, audio visual and volunteer coordination,) Biologist, Community Planner, Landscape Architect, Outdoor Recreation Planner.
  • Representing the Corridor, Commission, National Park Service.
  • Collaborative engagement with partners of all types, from federal, state, and local governments to not-for profil organizations, and interested individuals, Many partnerships are already established, where they are nurtured or able to grow in a manner that connects with our goals is a key aspect.

Special emphasis considered for this position:

  • Communications:   as an integrated program that the Commission has been striving for including the web page, media, and publications.
  • Visior Use Information:   for integration with the Tourism, Interpretation, and Education programs.
  • Partnership capacity and sustainablility:   possibibly as an aspect of the activities that have been identified as longterm Valley-wide needs.
